TWF’s Khapli: The Flour That Makes Regular Wheat Flour Look Like Sugar

Ever wondered why some foods leave you feeling energized while others leave you craving more?

It is time to pay attention to the Glycemic Load (GL) of what you eat. The higher a food’s glycemic load, the higher its impact on your blood sugar. Spikes in your blood sugar causes lethargy and in the long-term, repeated spikes can cause heart, kidney, eye-sight problems and nerve issues.

We are thrilled to announce a revolutionary breakthrough in healthy eating: our new low glycemic load TWF Khapli wheat flour. After 24 months of dedicated research, we’ve unlocked the secret to making one of India’s most diabetic-friendly ancient wheats even healthier.

Why Choose TWF Khapli Wheat Flour?

Khapli, also known as Simba, Jaive, or Emmer, is cherished in the regional diets of Maharashtra and Karnataka for its naturally low glycemic load (GL). To give you a clear picture, while standard wheat flours have a GL of 45, traditional Khapli flour stands at 33. But we didn’t stop there!

We were able to localize the gut-friendly fibers in the long kernels of Khapli and create a milling technique that highlights these fibers and optimizes the starches in the flour: achieving an unprecedented GL of just 20.8. This means each roti made with our Khapli flour has a mere 4.2 GL – a game-changer for those managing their blood sugar levels.

Why Should GL Matter To You?

Glycemic load (GL) matters because it provides a more accurate measure of how a food affects blood sugar levels. Unlike the glycemic index (GI), which only considers the speed at which carbohydrates turn into glucose, GL takes into account the quantity of carbohydrates in a typical serving. This helps in better managing blood sugar levels, making it particularly important for people with diabetes, those looking to maintain steady energy levels, and anyone interested in long-term health and weight management. In simple terms, a lower GI means steadier energy, fewer blood sugar spikes, and better overall health for you.

  1. Is there any special techniques to knead the flour for making chapatis like normal or hot water? Also kneaded flour to be kept in room temperature or to be kept in the refrigerator?

    1. Hi, there is no special technique as such. You can use hot water for better results and the kneaded flour should be kept in the refrigerator to prevent spoiling (if storing for long periods of time).
